SUMMARY:Haydn and Beethoven: Victory in Times of Struggle
DESCRIPTION:Prepare to be engulfed in a larger-than-life choral sound when NAU Shrine of the Ages\, directed by Timothy Westerhaus\, joins the FSO to perform Franz Joseph Haydn’s hopeful Missa in Angustiis (Mass in Troubled Times)\, also known as the “Lord Nelson” mass.  The combination of orchestra and voices will be nothing short of amazing for what Haydn’s chief biographer called “arguably his greatest work.” The performance will feature the following soloists: Andrea Zomorodian\, soprano; Mindy Ella Chu\, mezzo-soprano; Adam Faruqi\, tenor; John Buffett\, baritone. \nIn the same spirit of victory\, the orchestra presents Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony\, a twisting journey of tension\, beauty\, and uncertainty that arrives at one of the great victorious resolutions in the classical repertoire. This piece will end season 73 on a triumphant note! \nSingle tickets are on sale now! \n[nectar_btn size=”large” button_style=”regular” button_color_2=”Extra-Color-2″ color_override=”#747FBD” icon_family=”none” el_class=”gtrack” text=”Get Tickets” url=”https://events.nau.edu/event/haydn-and-beethoven-victory-in-times-of-struggle/”]

SUMMARY:75 Years of Song: A History of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra is approaching its 75th Anniversary Season in 2024-2025. Join us for a journey through time that celebrates three quarters of a century of music-making. From its humble beginnings when a group of women\, led by Emma Babbitt\, sponsored programs in the opera house on the second floor of the Babbitt building\, to becoming a cornerstone of cultural heritage in Northern Arizona\, this talk explores the rich history\, transformative performances\, and enduring impact of the FSO.\n\n\nDelve into the stories behind the music\, the visionaries who shaped its legacy\, and the community that has cherished its music-making for generations. Though the orchestra changed its name several times over the past 75 years\, its vision has remained the same: to share beauty and inspire joy; to create meaningful experiences for families\, friends\, and neighbors; and to help cultivate generations of artists\, educators\, and leaders through its music education programs.\n\nPresented by Stephanie Stallings\, FSO Executive Director.

SUMMARY:Beethoven 5k Run!
DESCRIPTION:The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 75th Anniversary Season in 2024- 2025. Through the years\, the FSO’s purpose has remained the same: to share beauty and inspire joy; to create meaningful experiences for families\, friends\, and neighbors; and to help cultivate generations of artists\, educators\, and leaders through its music education programs. \nThe opening four-note motif of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is one of the most recognizable and iconic sequences in classical music. Beethoven’s influence on classical music is immeasurable\, and he left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire musicians and audiences. It is also known that Beethoven found inspiration in nature and often composed while walking in the countryside. He believed that spending time outdoors helped stimulate his creativity. FSO’s Beethoven 5K is a community run that celebrates classical music\, nature\, community and the 75 years of joy and inspiration FSO has offered to all residents of Flagstaff. Join us on June 1st for the Beethoven 5K! \nEarly-bird pricing (through May 10): $35.   Regular price (after May 10): $45 \nCLICK TO REGISTER
