Arts Capacity

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra is honored to collaborate with Arts Capacity, a nonprofit organization that partners with orchestras to bring the transformative power of music to individuals navigating some of life’s most challenging circumstances. In this partnership, FSO musicians bring interactive concerts to residents of the Winslow Correctional Facility, creating spaces for reflection, connection, and healing through music.

FSO musicians share live performances with these residents in secure settings—spaces often marked by isolation and limited access to the arts. These concerts offer a vital creative outlet, fostering dignity, self-expression, and community.

We are honored to collaborate with Arts Capacity to bring hope, humanity, and the language of music to places where it is most needed.

“Music is what will get people back. I heard music of drugs and violence. Maybe if I had heard music like this, I would have understood music is a remedy to your heart.”
—Winslow Correctional Facility Resident, Level 5, April 2025

FSO musicians Melanie Robinson, horn, and Ben Wiebe, cello, join Holly Mulcahy (founder and Executive Director of Arts Capacity) and Tim Hinck (composer and Arts Capacity Board Vice President) for the first FSO–Arts Capacity Winslow Correctional Facility concert in April 2025.
