Carnegie Hall Link Up

A program of the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute and the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra

Link Up pairs orchestras with students in grades three through five to explore orchestral music through a hands-on curriculum. Students explore core musical concepts in specific works through listening, singing, playing the recorder, and composing. The year-long program culminates with an interactive orchestra concert in which students perform prepared vocal and instrumental selections and share some of their creative work.

“The Link Up program has given our students an amazing opportunity to prepare for a fantastic event,” said Nate Szyman, music teacher at the Peak School. “The chance to play and sing along with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra has been extremely motivational and exciting. Also, the program has supplied incredible resources to make it all happen–including wonderful workbooks and recorders for particpating students!

Link Up makes learning more interactive, fosters interdisciplinary learning, builds skills and confidence, and supports student success despite differences in language or learning styles.
