An evening of romance and musical featuring some of the most beautiful music ever composed
and three stories of star-crossed lovers. Saint-Saëns sets the tone with vibrant rhythms and lush
orchestration. Delius offers a serene and idyllic interlude. The orchestra then delves into the
profound emotions of Wagner’s “Prelude and Liebestod,” a masterpiece that explores the
transcendent power of love and desire. Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun is erotic
and dreamlike, evoking a sensual, otherworldly atmosphere. Rachmaninoff’s “Rhapsody on a
Theme of Paganini”; showcases the composer’s ability to blend dazzling piano technique with
lyrical expression.
