The magic of the holidays is practically upon us, and what better way to revel in this special time of year than with the holiday classic, Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Ballet?
Each year the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra teams up with the NAU Music and Dance Academy to give Flagstaff and surrounding communities a festive performance of the beloved ballet.
Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet that follows Clara’s dream adventures as she battles mischievous mice, charms the Sugar Plum Fairy, and dances with her prince. Whether this is your first time, or you’ve been going for years, The Nutcracker is a holiday classic not to be missed!
The full ballet will be on Friday, December 2nd, and Saturday, December 3rd at 7:30 pm in NAU’s Ardrey Memorial Auditorium.
The Lollipop Matinee, on December 3rd at 2 pm, is the family-friendly shortened version of the full ballet. This is ideal for families with young children who may get a little restless during the full ballet! Adult tickets are $20 and Junior tickets (12 and younger) are $12.50. We do offer a family discount which is one free junior ticket with the purchase of one adult ticket (limited to two free junior tickets).
The Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra is excited to be hosting a pre-concert reception in the Kitt Recital Hall Atrium from 6:30 pm until 7:25 pm for the evening performances on December 2nd and 3rd. This is a time for our community to gather and enjoy complimentary coffee, hot cocoa, and a dessert bar!
There will also be a holiday shopping boutique, benefiting and hosted by the NAU Music and Dance Academy to help you check off some of your holiday shopping. To complete the pre-concert festivities, get your photo taken with the dancers in costume at the Nutcracker-themed photo booth!
We hope you will join us and perpetuate the spirit of the holiday season!
