FSO’s Season 76 opens with Lalo’s dramatic overture to Le roi d’Ys, a rarely performed French gem. Steven Moeckel then takes center stage for Tchaikovsky’s dazzling and emotional violin concerto. Janáček’s powerful Sinfonietta, composed for an enormous
brass section and full orchestra, delivers a radiant, triumphant finale.

Two masterpieces of Romantic intensity. Pianist Fanya Lin triumphs in Rachmaninoff’s formidable and virtuosic third concerto—regarded as one of the most difficult works in the repertoire. The program closes with Brahms’s first symphony, a long-awaited
answer to Beethoven, bursting with passion and grandeur.

Two monumental choral works fill the FSO’s Season 76 finale with color and spirit. Poulenc’s Gloria bursts with joy, reverence, and unexpected humor. John Adams’ Harmonium fuses minimalist rhythms with lush harmonies and the poetry of John Donne
and Emily Dickinson in a thrilling tour de force.
